Burton credits the experience of working with his childhood idol, Vincent Price, as one of the most shaping experiences of his life. “Vincent” marked the beginning of a friendship between them that lasted until Price’s death in 1993.

Vincent Price on “Vincent” (1982) 

When Vincent Price was asked what he thought of the short, he said that it was “the most gratifying thing that ever happened. It was immortality - better than a star on Hollywood Boulevard.” 


According to Henry SelickVincent Price was originally cast as Santa Claus. However, after the death of Price’s wife, his own health began to fail and his voice performance was very frail and weak. The tracks were deemed unusable which led to, much to Selick’s regret, the role being recast.
